Everything in one tablet, one at a time
Six named ingredients. One number that's disclosed as a total but not broken down by strain. Here's the full picture.
Lactobacillus paracasei
Shows up across multiple randomized trials tied to gum support, largely by competing against the bacteria most associated with tooth decay.
Bifidobacterium lactis BL-04
Less about the mouth specifically and more about the broader oral-gut connection — general immune modulation, with some evidence toward reduced systemic inflammation.
Lactobacillus reuteri
The standout in this formula. A systematic review across 14 randomized controlled trials found this strain significantly reduced bleeding on probing and gingival index scores compared to placebo. If one ingredient here is doing the heavy lifting, it's this one.
Inulin (chicory root)
A soluble prebiotic fiber. Its job isn't to act on your mouth directly — it's to keep the three strains above fed and active, which is what turns a one-time dose into something with lasting effect.
Malic acid
Contributes gentle surface action against plaque and stimulates saliva flow. The evidence here is more mechanistic than clinical — it makes sense based on how malic acid behaves, even without a dedicated trial on this exact use.
Peppermint and spearmint
Flavoring, mostly. Both carry mild antimicrobial properties as a side effect of their natural composition, but that's a bonus, not the reason they're in the formula.
The number that's missing
3.5 billion CFU, total, across all three strains — that part is disclosed clearly. What isn't disclosed is the ratio. Maybe it's mostly L. reuteri, maybe it's evenly split, maybe it leans toward one of the other two. There's no way to check from the label alone. This is standard practice for proprietary probiotic blends, and it's not unique to this product, but it does mean you're trusting the formulation rather than verifying it.
Before you start
Skip this if you're pregnant or nursing without checking with a dentist first. If you're on prescription antibiotics or immunosuppressants, or have a compromised immune system, talk to your doctor before adding any probiotic, oral or otherwise.
